Bob Duff: Yzerman is no miracle worker, but he is willing to work Steve Yzerman has a chance to succeed as GM in Detroit because he's proven a willingness to work as hard at his craft as an executive as he did as a player.

So you don't want a progressive, forward thinking GM who can build a perennial contender from scraps? You'd rather have the guy who handed Stephen Weiss 25 million and traded a first rounder for Kyle Quincey? Whose teams after the last cup win over ten seasons ago couldn't make it past the first round? Who lost one of the better coaches in Mike Babcock? Who hands out contracts to players based on their performance fifteen years ago? You should just go cover whichever team hires Chiarelli or Hextall next. Detroit fans deserve better than Duff. Yzean has had leaps and bounds more success over the same time period as Holland has. Any analyst can tell you that since Yzerman took the reigns in Tampa his teams have kicked the poop out of Holland's. You've lost another reader, garf 2.0. Delete your account.

Tampa won the regular season championship. He did build a winner.

Just not the tournament for Stanley cup.

Yzerman doesn't play and he's not the coach. The Bolts were not prepared and were outworked by the Blue Jackets. IMO that's Cooper's bad. The pieces were there. The urgency was not.
